This course will teach you all the skills you require to move around in the winter environment. You will learn what to carry, how to read the forecasts, prepare a route safely, use of ice axe and crampons, how to arrest a fall, winter navigation basics, building a shelter, safe travel tips and much more.
The days will run from 9am in the morning to 4.15pm when we will be off the mountains and heading for the tea and cake shop for a debrief and brief for the next day. The days are not physically taxing but are a test nonetheless and you should be prepared for the winter conditions on a daily basis. We will walk slowly and try not to sweat as this can be dangerous and thoroughly uncomfortable when we stop for breaks.
A full briefing sheet will be sent on enquiry.
